Investment Style - A Record of Success
We adhere to the historical perspective that common stocks have dramatically outperformed other financial investments over longer periods. Our investment style has developed out of Stephens Inc.'s experience and success in investing in small to medium-sized companies that have a high potential for growth. Many of the early stage companies we have selected or invested in have become leaders in their industries.
- Our position in smaller companies is balanced by a core of larger capitalization equities having growth, defensive and value characteristics.
- We do not over-diversify, preferring to concentrate equity holdings in our best ideas.
- By knowing our companies well, we strive to mitigate some of the risk inherent in the markets.
Research Approach - Pro-active Techniques & Analysis
Investment ideas originate from many prominent resources, and we thoroughly investigate those investments that hold significant promise.
Committee Review - Experienced Insight & Action
Upon completion of our research, our findings and opinions are reviewed in detail by the Capital Management Committee, which includes the chairman of SCM. The focus of this review is to determine viable candidates for investment that are consistent with SCM's overall philosophies. Once an investment is approved, price fluctuations create entry points.
