By hiring a seven-member team from boutique Bluffview Capital,
Stephens Inc. rejuvenated its media and real estate investment
banking as well as restructuring wherewithal. Stephens recently
appointed Jennifer Bishop and Phyllis Riggins as managing directors
in its media banking group, Michael Stuart as a managing director
in its new real estate banking practice and Kerry North as a
managing director in its M&A group.
Stephens has weathered the current economic downturn thanks to
its status as a family-owned, private bank, said Brad Eichler, EVP
and co-head of Investment Banking. The markets have been
inhospitable to many investment banks; however, as a focused,
independent privately owned firm, Stephens has been fortunate not
to have to struggle with these challenges, commented Mr. Eichler.
He continued:as a result, Stephens has been able to capitalize on
opportunities to enter new markets and hire great talent.
