Keith Behrens, a managing director at Stephens Inc. in Houston
who is working on a mezzanine financing for a private equity-backed
oil and gas shale deal, says gas deals can still get done in this
market, but it's harder because there's a more negative view toward
gas prices than oil prices. If you're selling a gas property or
you're raising equity, it's not as well valued as if you were on
the oil side of the equation, Mr. Behrens says. There's a bigger
valuation gap.
