Philosophy & Approach

Jim has more than 25 years of experience consulting with clients in all aspects of their wealth management needs. He joined Stephens in 2011. According to Jim, “I use a client’s present and future goals to create their financial roadmap. Wealth management planning and developing an appropriate asset allocation are two vital functions I use to empower them to make the right decisions for their lifestyle.”

Stacie Baker, a registered sales assistant, since 1996, with over 30 years of administrative experience, supports Jim.

Experience & Education

Prior to working at Stephens, Jim was a financial advisor and Director at Alex. Brown & Sons Inc., and its successor, Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. Jim received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also attended Stephens University, an advanced wealth management program, offered through Wake Forest University.


Jim has previously served on the Brevard College Board of Trustees finance, development, and athletics committees. He was also on the investment committee for the United Way of Forsyth County. 

Jim and his wife have three children, Sally, Jimmy, and Andrew, and three grandchildren. In his free time, his enjoys traveling to the mountains, golfing, reading, and watching football and basketball.
