Philosophy & Approach
Jim joined Stephens Private Client Group in 2000 and has over 30 years of industry experience. On his approach, Jim states, “As a consultant, I am charged with planning for my clients’ futures. There is no one-size-fits-all solution to wealth management, and it is imperative that I work to earn and maintain their trust so that I can offer them thoughtful advice that is truly beneficial to their lives and to the things that matter most to them.”
Teresa Garrison, a registered sales assistant with over 25 years of administrative experience, supports Jim.
Experience & Education
Prior to joining Stephens, Jim was a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc. for six years. He also worked at Barnes, Quinn, Flake & Anderson Investment, Inc. and American Transportation Co.
Jim graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration where he majored in Accounting. He has an MBA from the University of Central Arkansas. In addition, he is a graduate of Stephens University, an advanced wealth management program offered through Wake Forest University.
He is also a Certified Financial PlannerTM (CFP®). The certification from the CFP board includes insurance planning and risk management, employee benefits planning, investment planning, retirement planning, and estate planning.
Personal
Jim serves on the CARTI Foundation board and chairs the CARTI Kids Scholarship & Activities committee. He previously served as President of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Pulaski County and served on the Toast and Roast fundraiser.
Jim has two children and two grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, canoeing, rafting, hiking, and watching Razorback sports.
