Hal joined Stephens Private Client Group in 2011. Prior to this, he held positions in wealth management planning and investment management at Dean Witter Reynolds Inc. and Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co, Inc. later to become a part of Morgan Stanley.
Hal graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science.
As a native of Memphis, Hal is very passionate about his community. He is an active member and former board member of the Economic Club of Memphis and a member of Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, where he chaired a major fundraiser. Hal has also volunteered for the United Way of the Mid-South as well the Memphis in May International Festival and served on the Board of the Shelby Farms Planning Commission, a leading conservation group. He previously served as President of the Memphis chapter of the International Wine and Food Society and as President of the Memphis Securities Dealers Association.
Hal and his wife, Jean, have two sons and two grandchildren. He enjoys traveling, golf, and spending as much time as he can with his grandchildren. He is an avid wine collector and belongs to a number of national and international wine and food organizations.
