James joined Stephens in 2013 and has more than 25 years of experience advising clients in all aspects of their wealth management needs.

Prior to joining Stephens, James was a Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager at Smith Barney Inc. and its successor, Morgan Stanley, and a First Vice President at Raymond James & Associates, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management with a minor in Economics from Trinity University in San Antonio. Additionally, he completed Stephens University, an advanced wealth management program offered through Wake Forest University.
He is also a Certified Portfolio Manager (CPM®). The designation from the Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers (ACPM), offered through Columbia University, provides a deeper understanding of fundamental security analysis, asset allocation, and portfolio management concepts. The core finance concepts include: quantitative methods, financial statement analysis, corporate finance, fixed income analysis, equity analysis, derivatives, and portfolio management.
James gives back to his church as a volunteer on the finance committee and has previously served on the investment committee for the Carroll Education Foundation. James and his wife live in Southlake, Texas.
