After a successful debut in 2021, The Jackson T. Stephens Cup (The Stephens Cup), announced its field today for the second-year competition being held at Seminole Golf Club, Juno Beach, Florida October 9 -12. The Stephens Cup is a national collegiate golf tournament, named in honor of the late Jackson (Jack) T. Stephens, the former Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club.

This year’s competition will again feature one of the strongest fields in collegiate golf. The venerable Seminole Golf Club, located on the Atlantic coast just north of West Palm Beach, is widely considered by many to be one of the finest examples of golf course routing ever and was designed by the legendary Donald Ross.

“Our goal is to create a distinctive and highly-competitive collegiate tournament that is comprised of tomorrow’s PGA TOUR and LPGA stars playing some of the country’s premier golf courses,” said tournament chairman Warren Stephens. “Dad (Jack Stephens) truly believed that golf instilled life lessons and built character, especially when started young. Therefore, he would be very humbled and proud that this tournament is named in his honor.”

“We are excited to host this year’s Jackson T. Stephens Cup at Seminole Golf Club,” said Jimmy Dunne, President of Seminole Golf Club. “I, along with all our members, look forward to welcoming these talented young players and hope Seminole’s rich golf history and traditions will inspire them to play their very best. It will be a special week for amateur golf.”

The Stephens Cup field will feature seven of the top NCAA Division 1 men’s and women’s teams in the country, as well as stand-out players from U.S Military Service Academies and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) competing as individuals.

The women’s division is set to be one of the strongest ever in collegiate golf with all seven teams ranked in the top 25 of the most-recent Golfstat NCAA Division 1 standings. Accompanying 2022 National Champion and top-ranked Stanford University in the women’s field is fourth-ranked University of South Carolina, fifth-ranked Wake Forest University, 11th-ranked Louisiana State University, 16th-ranked University of Southern California, 20th-ranked University of Arkansas, and 21st-ranked Duke University.

All seven of the men’s teams are featured in the top 25 beginning with third-ranked Oklahoma State University, fifth-ranked University of North Carolina, 2022 National Champion and seventh-ranked University of Texas, 12th-ranked University of Arkansas, 16th-ranked University of Notre Dame, 17th- ranked Stanford University, and 23rd-ranked Florida State University.

Warren Stephens stated the Tournament is committed to expanding opportunities in the game of golf and fostering inclusion among talented golfers. In addition to the highly ranked collegiate teams, individual invitations have been sent to the top players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and U.S. Military Service Academies (Army, Navy, and Air Force). “With these additions of collegiate golfers from HBCUs and U.S. Military Service Academies, we celebrate diversity of education, ethnicity, and background, recognizing the sport is stronger with representation that reflects America. All of these young men and women are the future of golf and core to its growth. ”

The tournament format will feature 54-holes of stroke play followed by 18-holes of match play. The first 54-holes of team stroke play will be used to determine the seeding for the men’s and women’s fields for the final day of match play. Stroke-play medalists will be honored on October 11 prior to the start of match play. Tournament week will begin with a practice round and collegiate-am event on Sunday.

The three-day competition will be televised live on GOLF Channel. Live broadcasts will take place on each day of official tournament play: Monday, Oct. 10: 4-7 p.m. eastern time, Tuesday, Oct. 11: 3-6 p.m. eastern time and Wednesday, Oct. 12: 3-6 p.m. eastern time. GOLF Channel is the television home for collegiate golf, providing live comprehensive coverage of eight college golf championships annually across the network and its social and digital platforms.

Additional invitations will be extended to individuals from HBCUs and U.S. Military Service Academies ahead of the event.
