Stephens boosts tech advisory specialism with Robin Brown hire

Nov 5, 2019

Stephens has enhanced its European technology M&A expertise with the addition of sector specialist Robin Brown.

Brown – who assumes the role of Managing Director, Technology – joins Stephens’ experienced and integrated tech sector team, based across the US and Europe. Brown joins from BDO Corporate Finance, where he was Managing Director and Head of the Tech and Media M&A team.

In addition to his background in M&A, Brown has many years of experience in the management of global IT and telecom companies. He is also an advisory board member at techUK; advising governmental bodies on a range of issues surrounding the sector.

Founded in the US in 1933, privately-held Stephens established an investment banking presence across the Atlantic in 2014 – opening offices in London and Frankfurt. Stephens’ international corporate finance advisory business is led by a highly experienced team of professionals with expertise across many sectors, geographies and types of transactions.

The addition of Brown follows Stephens’ recent hire of Simon Tilley, who joined in September with responsibility for European sponsor coverage.

“Robin has tremendous insights and expertise, having achieved success in both the M&A sphere and in the management of companies within the tech industry,” comments Brad Eichler, executive vice president and head of Stephens investment banking practice. “The cross-border relationships Robin has built up from two decades in this space – working across the US, Europe and the Far East, as well as his intimate understanding of the opportunities available in Silicon Valley and Palo Alto – will be a great asset to our transatlantic technology advisory team.”

Brown adds: “I am excited to be joining such a highly respected firm as Stephens. With more than 80 years of history, a reputation for integrity and a focus on long-term relationships, Stephens is a firm clients can trust. I look forward to helping build out what is already a very successful tech M&A franchise.”
