Senior Vice President, Commercial P&C Loss Control
David Nigus joined Stephens Insurance in March 2013 and currently serves as Senior Vice President / Loss Control Engineer providing Risk Management, Safety and Loss Control Services for our valued clients. Nigus previously worked for a worldwide Property / Casualty insurance carrier providing an array of Loss Control and Risk Management Services.
Nigus brings more than 36 years of Safety / Loss Control experience. He began his career in 1977 with the Arkansas Department of Labor as an OSHA Consultant, MSHA Consultant / Mine Inspector, and advanced to Supervisor of the AOSH Safety Compliance Division.
In 1984 he joined Wausau Insurance Companies as a Safety Engineer. His career continued with Liberty Mutual Insurance in 1998 and was promoted to numerous positions including Senior Safety Consultant, Ergonomics Specialist, Loss Control Service Director, and Technical Consultant II.
Nigus earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management and holds several certifications. This includes the CSP – “Certified Safety Professional” and is recognized by the BCPE as a “Certified Professional Ergonomist.” Nigus is certified as Field Safety Representative (FSR) in the states of Arkansas and Texas, and is an Approved Professional Safety Source (APSS) through the Arkansas Workers Compensation Commission.
