Philosophy & Approach

Cage has been a member of Stephens Private Client Group since 2012 and has more than 30 years of industry experience. Throughout his career, he has prided himself on working closely with clients in order to help grow and protect their portfolios. Observes Cage, “As a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, I emphasize the importance of preparing for life after work, which requires financial and emotional awareness. Over the past decade, how and when we retire has changed, but the fundamentals of retiring remain.”

Vanessa Etheridge, a registered client associate since 2008 with more than 15 years of administrative experience, supports Cage and works with clients to meet their needs.

Experience & Education

Prior to joining Stephens, Cage was a financial advisor and Vice President at Wachovia Securities and its successor Wells Fargo Advisors, Inc., J. C. Bradford & Co., before it ultimately became a part of UBS Financial Services Inc. and Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc. Cage received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi in 1980.

He is a Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM (CRPC®). This designation from the College for Financial Planning signifies that Cage has met initial and on-going experience, ethical education, and examination requirements for the retirement planning process, including meeting multiple financial objectives, sources of retirement income, personal savings, employer-sponsored retirement plans, income taxes, retirement cash flow, asset management, estate planning, and more.

Personal

Upon graduating from college in 1980, Cage served as an Officer in the U. S. Navy for seven years on active duty, one year at two NAVY schools, then almost three years as a Division Officer aboard the USS ARKANSAS (CGN-41), completing two, six-month overseas deployments with the second being a circumnavigation; then three years at the Naval Air Technical Training Center at Naval Air Station MEMPHIS, followed by two years in the Naval Air Reserves with Naval Air Facility MISAWA, JP. Cage has served on the Board of the United States Navy League’s Memphis Council for over 20 years, including as President, and has served, back in uniform, since 2015, as an Instructor in the local USN Sea Cadet Corps TENNESSEE (BB-43) DIVISION.
