Spence and his team, Byers Whitman, John Black and Wynton Blount, provide investment management to high-net-worth families and businesses. Cindy Burger, his registered client associate, has worked with Spence since 2001 and in the business for more than 26 years. Cindy helps provide all of the day-to-day administrative support.
Spence started in the industry in 1991 and joined Stephens as a Senior Vice President in 2006. He has since received the Stephens Leadership Circle award every year since 2007 in recognition of excellence in wealth management.
Spence received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990.
Spence is an active member of his community. He is a current member of The UNC Endowment, Foundation and Chapel Hill Investment Funds Board.
He and his wife, Leslie, have three children, Byers, Lilly, and Spence, Jr.
