Vice President, Senior Geologist
Jason Sturms joined Stephens in 2022 as a member of the firm’s Energy Group, where he focuses on technical evaluation and asset analysis across the oil and gas sector. He brings significant experience in exploration and operations geology, petrophysical analysis, and asset development. Prior to joining Stephens, Jason held roles of increasing responsibility at Devon Energy, where he supported the company’s entry into the Wolfcamp Shale and contributed to international joint ventures and exploration across multiple basins. He later served as Senior Geologist and Business Unit Leader at Koch Exploration, LLC, overseeing geological and petrophysical evaluations across the Permian, Williston, and San Juan Basins. Most recently, he was a senior geologist at MECO IV, LLC, where he led technical evaluations of existing assets and A&D opportunities through to a successful exit. Jason holds a Master’s degree in geology from West Virginia University.
