Kade Machen is a Managing Director and senior member of Stephens’ Financial Institutions Group. Based in Dallas, Kade focuses on advising community and regional banks throughout Texas and the Southwestern United States on strategic alternatives, mergers and acquisitions, and capital formation.
Kade serves as a long-term strategic advisor to bank CEOs, boards of directors and shareholders, often working with clients well in advance of a transaction. He advises clients on the strategic decisions that drive long-term franchise value, including organic growth, acquisitions, capital planning, liquidity alternatives, remaining independent and potential change-of-control transactions. His experience spans both privately held and publicly traded financial institutions.
Prior to joining Stephens in 2015, Kade worked as a Director for Sterne Agee and a Vice President for Keefe, Bruyette & Woods advising bank clients on M&A and capital markets transactions.
Kade has completed 50 bank M&A transactions with an aggregate deal value in excess of $15 billion. His experience includes both buy- and sell-side whole-bank transactions, branch acquisitions and divestitures, FDIC-assisted transactions and other complex strategic assignments.
In addition, Kade has advised on approximately 40 completed bank capital markets transactions with aggregate proceeds in excess of $4 billion, including 14 initial public offerings, as well as public and private common stock offerings and subordinated debt transactions. His experience across both M&A and capital formation allows him to advise clients throughout a bank’s lifecycle—from raising growth capital and accessing the public markets to acquisitions and ultimately evaluating strategic alternatives.
Kade is actively involved in the banking community as a conference and banking school speaker and regularly speaks with bank executives and boards regarding industry consolidation, valuation, capital strategy and M&A.
Kade graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BBA in Finance and a minor in Accounting from Tarleton State University. He was selected as the Outstanding Graduate for his class and was the sole student selected to address the graduating class during commencement. He serves as a member of the Tarleton State University Foundation Board.
