Transaction Details

On October 2, 2026, Sealaska Corporation (“Sealaska”) announced that it has divested its interests in European seafood with the sale of Sealaska Foods International Holdings Limited (“SFIH”), comprising New England Seafood International Limited (“NESI”), as well as companies in Norway, Iceland and the USA, to Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”), a Tokyo-listed global trading and investment group.

New England Seafood International is a leading European seafood platform. Headquartered in the UK, it imports, processes and supplies fresh and frozen sustainably sourced seafood from fisheries and farms worldwide, serving retail, foodservice and wholesale customers across Europe, the USA and Canada. NESI supplies both private label and its own consumer brands, including Leap and Fish Said Fred. It is part of Sealaska Foods International Holdings Limited, alongside affiliate businesses in Norway, Iceland and the USA.

Sojitz Corporation
Sojitz Corporation is a Tokyo-listed global trading and investment group operating across seven divisions, with annual revenue of c.¥2.8 trillion (c.$17.5bn), 27,200 employees and 80 overseas offices. Within its Retail and Consumer Service division, Sojitz is a major player in seafood, with established positions including The Marine Foods Corporation in processing, TRY Inc. in frozen tuna and Sushi Avenue in U.S. takeout sushi, alongside its own tuna farming and processing operations. Sojitz has positioned Europe and the U.S. as key high-growth markets for high value-added seafood. Through this acquisition of SFIH, Sojitz Group aims to establish a strategic hub and broaden its global sourcing capabilities, with the intention of securing new supply networks to address strong seafood demand in Europe and the USA.
