- On July 8, 2024, nexAir, a leading distributor of atmospheric gases and welding supplies, announced it has acquired WELSCO, the leading Arkansas-based supplier of industrial gases and welding supplies.
- WELSCO will operate as a subsidiary of nexAir. This acquisition bolsters nexAir’s footprint in the Southeastern U.S., where it already operates over 70 locations.
- Angela Harrison, CEO of WELSCO, stated “We have known and worked with our friends at nexAir for decades and are glad to be joining a company with a similar culture focused on doing what is best for the customer and our employees.”

WELSCO, a fourth-generation family-owned business, was founded as Welder’s Supply Company in 1941 by R.G. Harrison, with the first retail location in Little Rock, Arkansas. The company has been led by Angela E. Harrison, the granddaughter of R.G. Harrison, since 1994. Under Angela’s leadership, WELSCO grew to 16 locations in Arkansas and the surrounding states. As one of the largest independent, female-owned industrial gas and welding distribution companies in the world, WELSCO serves as a complete welding and cutting equipment distributor with a full selection of industrial gases for welding, cutting, plasma and lasers.
